The high hopes for a December rate cut continue to push the indexes higher and higher as for the fifth day we’re into 3-digit gains. It was enough for all three indexes to see gains for the week from 3-5% and, despite the setbacks from the past couple weeks, the Dow and S&P still eked out modest gains for the month, the Nasdaq not so lucky with a 1.5% dip for the month showing that the concerns over a possible AI bubble are still in force. As a post-holiday and shortened trading day, volume was quite light, coming in per the CBOE at 9.2 billion vs the 19.49 average.
