It was yet another one of those days where concerns over AI’s potential profitability due to its excessive debt load sent the tech investors into cautionary mode with the Nasdaq not moving the needle much and closing flat while the S&P enjoyed a 60 point gain until 11 a.m., then plummeting and staying down the rest of the session to close modestly up.

All the money rotated to the Dow which saw a big 3-digit gain as the whole healthcare sector had a big boost with financial services coming in second and the defensive sectors such as real estate and utilities also coming in strong. That’s the way it always goes. On the days of AI uncertainty, industrials profit. When there is optimism, the safe sectors sink. But investors are still largely on the fence as today’s volume of 15.9 billion remains below the 17.1 average.
