New Investment Opportunities

From this week's episode of the PBS financial program WealthTrack, this one features a panel discussion hosted by both UCLA and Berkeley business schools in which the top of new investment opportunities amidst the market meltdown of the past few months is explored. This is such a fast moving market that this discussion may already be obsolete given the rallies of this past week that suggest things may be starting to turn around. In any event, finding opportunities amidst crisis is always a topic worth considering. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend.

Dear WEALTHTRACK Subscriber,

Albert Einstein observed that “In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity.”

The same can be said for market major declines. 2022 is testing the mettle and skills of investors in multiple asset classes including stocks, bonds, and various segments of the commercial real estate market.

I recently hosted a panel discussion with three investment pros for a “Tearing Down the Pink Wall: Influential Women in Finance” event hosted by the UCLA Fink Center for Finance at the Anderson School of ManagementUC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and the financial literacy organization WISE: Women Investing in Security and Education.

As the financial markets churn around us the three panelists described how they are taking advantage of a sea change in market conditions which they view as full of opportunities in their respective fields.

We are sharing their comments with you as a WEALTHTRACK podcast on our website this week.

Sarah Ketterer, a past WEALTHTRACK guest, is CEO and Co-Founder of global value firm, Causeway Capital Management where among other funds she manages its flagship Causeway International Value Fund, a winner of Morningstar’s prestigious “International Stock Fund Manager of the Year” award.

Karen Choi is a Fixed Income Manager at the highly regarded Capital Group where she specializes in investment-grade corporate bond portfolios.

Robin Potts is Co-Head of Real Estate Investments and Director of Acquisitions at Canyon Partners Real Estate, the real estate arm of global alternative asset manager Canyon Partners.

As we mark Memorial Day this weekend and launch our summer season we are revisiting one of our most popular and still timely recent interviews. It is with influential strategist Savita Subramanian who has two leading roles at BofA Global Research. She is Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Research, the first in that position and she also leads U.S. Equity and Quantitative Strategy.

Subramanian has been named a star analyst by Institutional Investor for the last 9 years with the unusual distinction of being ranked in four categories in 2021, including number one in ESG research. She was also named to Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance for the last three years.

If you miss the show on public television, you can watch it on our website over the weekend. You can also find the WEALTHTRACK podcast on Stitcher and SoundCloud as well as iTunes and Spotify.

Have a lovely Memorial Day weekend, and make the week ahead a healthy, profitable and productive one!

Best regards,

Consuelo
