Here's something different for your weekend reading, the latest in cryptocurrency scams courtesy of our Michigan Attorney General's office, an email list that anyone can get on just by going to the Oakland County website and signing up for it and any of dozens of other newsletters including the latest local COVID updates.
Cryptocurrency is something I've avoided like the plague, simply something that it is too mysterious to get involved with. And extremely risky. I think the number one rule in investing must be to never put your money into anything that you don't completely understand and I don't understand crypto at all. But for those of you who do understand it and maybe even have some of your own capital into it, you likely already know that there have been a plethora of scams surrounding this market, scams that show up in the media from time to time, and are enough to give anyone pause though you also hear the other side of the story that crypto is the future and there are fortunes to be made in it.
But I thought this particular scam outlined below was unique as it combines another age-old scam. They're calling it "pig butchering" but it's really the time honored old fashion romance scam which so many otherwise intelligent men, particularly middle-aged men and seniors, fall for. There are common romance scams and what they are now calling Pig Butchering is now being merged into one of the many crypto scams. So for your amusement, I submit for your weekend reading this latest alert from the Michigan's AG's office about Pig Butchering.
