Wall Street ends down as US-Iran peace optimism fades

Wall Street ends down as US-Iran peace optimism fades

For the second day after new proposals to end the war have utterly failed, the market took a dive straight down, this time much more seriously than yesterday. As Iran said, “The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the U.S. accepts Iran’s conditions to end the war.” As of this past weekend, those conditions now include the U.S. paying restitution for all the damage done to Iran. As reported yesterday, Trump has countered that by demanding Iran pay restitution for every American lost in the attacks by Iran.

Amazon, Alphabet and SpaceX all fell and, while Nvidia fell on its announcement to raise another $500B for AI, the two big banks that are financing this both shot way up. Both CPI and PPI are coming in the next two days and will be closely watched for clues on inflation and the Fed’s policy path. It should also be noted that the Mag7 this year has so far been performing considerable under the S&P, which should be taken as good news as investors are finally starting to equalize these very top-heavy markets by selling off shares in these behemoths. Volume at 15 billion is still well below the 17.6 billion average.
