Wall Street ends higher as tech rebounds before Nvidia results

It was a choppy yet fruitful day with all three indexes recovering from recent pullbacks. The recovery, especially in tech, was a good harbinger of expectations of positive results from Nvidia on Wednesday. PCE will also be out on Wednesday which will also give a boost if it shows inflation in the right direction. Today’s rally was partly motivated by the 30-year yield falling along with oil, oil down to a one-week low.
Investors continue to weigh Bessent’s plan to expand bond buybacks. The bad news is that consumer confidence has dropped to its lowest in seven months. Investors wariness of the hyper-spending on AI continues to increase. The good news, per today’s expert is “We’re pretty constructive on the outlook on the next 12, 18 months on the economy; therefore, on the markets as well.” Warsh speaks at Jackson Hole on Friday. At 14.32 billion, volume remains well below the 16.4 average.
