Wall Street just loved the way the midterms turned out not only because of the removal of a lot of uncertainty but because with the Dems in control the war ending sooner rather than later now seems like a much better bet. There’s also the AI issue which was also taken as a good thing given that the Dems will likely push for a slowdown which investors now feel may very well benefit the industry.
Of course a slowdown is not good news for the chip makers which caused those stocks to slump and the chip index to dive to a 6-month low of 3.1%. All three indexes surged enormously, the Dow amazingly over 1500 points as the prospect of the war ending meant more promising news on both the inflation and industry fronts. This also caused defense stocks to tumble and green stocks to rise. Per the CBOE, at 22.1 billion, volume was way above the 17.4 average.
