After two days of major routs there was a lot of bargain hunting going on today as investors searched for overlooked and undervalued companies which triggered a major leap in all three indexes all morning. The chip index, which has fallen nearly 25% in the last two months, has been making a comeback with AI stars Nvidia, Broadcom, Micron and Qualcomm leading the charge. But today’s expert is quite a lot more optimistic than recent sentiment has shown. “The war is continuing longer than anyone hoped and when it ends energy will cool and inflation will not be as much of an issue.”

Of course, the optimists have been saying this ever since the war started. Despite the solid earnings season and fundamentals, another perspective goes, “The United States and Iran ramped up their attacks in the biggest exchange of airstrikes since July, dousing hopes for a return to the negotiating table and raising the likelihood that protracted hostilities could result in systemic inflation and force central bank leaders to raise borrowing costs.” A slew of new economic reports is due on Thursday. Volume at 14.75 billion is inching closer to the 4-week average of 15.19 billion.
